KATHMANDU, June 6: The European Union (EU) has expressed concerns over the prospect of holding the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) election by mid-December. During a meeting with CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal on Thursday, EU envoys inquired about the preparations being made for the CA elections and agreement among political parties on various contentious issues related to election, according to UML leader Bhim Rawal.
The envoy had urged UML leaders to create environment for holding election at the earliest, saying further delay could complicate the situation. EU envoys also assured that Nepal could see EU investment and grant assistance if there is political stability in Nepal. On the occasion, Khanal told the envoys that the parties are trying to forge consensus on election-related issues.
