Earthquake reminiscences

The loud thumping growled across the ceiling Hearts longed to believe it was just nothing

The loud thumping growled across the ceiling

Hearts longed to believe it was just nothing

Their worst fears crept and started lurking

Toward the truth that the ground was shaking.

Some jumped, some leaped across that dreary moment

Some gaped, lost their hopes and fainted straight

Some marched to save their lives and see another day

Some begged mother Earth to let them live and tell their tale.

The days were no better than the dark nights

The houses were no safer than the tents

The bed was no comfy than the grumpy road

The ceiling was no stronger than the open sky.

The ones who took their last breath know it better

To live were their last wish but the hour was fatal

The regrets of their life were spitting at their faces

Hoping that they would get to the live them someday.

Who knew it would be their last day to live

They could see their whole life shine instead

What wouldn’t they give to live a second more

But karma proved that nothing is evermore.

Perfect as the day before, life was planned

Flashes of their loved ones for one last time

Dark as the day haunts my soul

For everyone lost and everyone who lost.
