UDAYAPUR, June 10: A tractor accident in Udayapur has claimed the life of the driver.
The incident occurred at around 5:30 am on Wednesday at Kattike in Setidhunga Khahare stream area on the border of wards 1 and 3 of Limchungbung Rural Municipality.
The driver, 32-year-old Himal Rai, died after the tractor (registration number M. Pra. 01-001 Ta 2840) went out of control.
Driver killed in tractor accident
According to Ward Chair Janadip Thapa Magar of Limchungbung-1, the tractor had stalled on a steep uphill dirt road near the stream, and while attempting to recover it, the brakes reportedly failed, causing the vehicle to lose control.
The tractor fell about 50 meters down into the stream, killing Rai on the spot, police said. The co-driver, 27-year-old Pradip Rai, survived unharmed.
Ward Chair Magar said a team from the Area Police Office Limchungbung secured the site, while a district police team was also deployed.
A joint investigation into the incident is underway, the District Police Office, Udayapur, said.
