KATHMANDU, Aug 4: The government has posted newly promoted Secretary Dr Madan Bhattarai at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on deputation, a day after he was posted at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

According to a close aide of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, the government will create a new post -- officer on special duty - soon to accommodate Bhattarai at MoFA which already has a secretary. Bhattarai told myrepublica.com that he started working at MoFA from Tuesday.

Sources close to the prime minister further said that Bhattarai will ultimately succeed Secretary Gyan Chandra Acharya after the latter will be appointed as Nepal´s ambassador to the United Nations. The coveted diplomatic post at the UN headquarters in New York is going to be vacant from the last week of August when ambassador Madhu Raman Acharya´s term expires.
