DJPL operates its new research center

REPUBLICA, Jan 27: Deurali-Janta Pharmaceuticals P Ltd (DJPL) has announced operations of its recently built Research and Development Center on the occasion of its 20th Anniversary.



Hari Bhakta Sharma, executive director of DJPL said that the Center is equipped with high quality scientific technology and sprawls over 20,000 square feet at its manufacturing plant in Dhapasi. [break]



“This will enable us to conduct researches of international standard in the medicine sector and produce medicines that can be exported to international markets," Sharma said at a program on Thursday.



With the newly expanded manufacturing facility, the company now boasts of having a potential to produce a million liters of liquid preparations, 100 million tablets, 72 million capsules, 0.3 million dry syrups and 10 million ointments in a single shift.



“At present, we are utilizing 60 percent of our installed capacity. The remaining 40 percent will be used for expanding our product basket in the field of neuro-psychiatry, nephrology, cardiovascular and other chronic disease segments,” Sharma stated.



DJPL claims to be the first and only Nepali company with a capacity to import international manufacturing technology in pharmaceuticals after its Technology Transfer Agreement (TTA) with Renata Limited, Bangladesh.



Operating with a total investment of Rs 640 million, the company is currently manufacturing 120 varieties of drugs employing more than 300 individuals. The company also unveiled its plan to export its products to South Asian, African, Gulf and European markets.
