Digital signature project bags regional award

KATHMANDU, June 17: The government´s digital signature project has won the best project award in Best e-Governance Initiative Using New Age Technologies at the eWorld Forum.



Rajan Raj Pant, controller of Office of Controller of Certification, received the award on behalf of Ministry of Science and Technology amidst a special ceremony organized in New Delhi on Saturday. [break]



The government had introduced digital signature earlier this year with an aim to secure online transaction and other activities like e-bidding and e-procurement.



Digital signature is an electronic signature that helps maintain privacy and security of messages of transaction.



Awards in 14 different categories, including Best ICT-enabled Agriculture Initiative, Best use of ICT in Public Safety and Best e-Governence Channel Partner of the Year, were announced at the event.



The award was given way on the basis of public choice and jury choice after inviting nominations in different categories from private and government firms.



eWorld Forum is a premier global conference organized annually. It features paper presentations on ICT, award ceremony and eWorld exhibition. The theme of this year´s conference was ´Governance in the Information Age´.
