JANAKPUR, March 10: The Dhanusha District Development Committee (DDC) seems unmindful of the fact that everyone has the right to seek and receive information as the DDC is facing the accusation of ignoring the Right to Information Act.

The Local Development Officer is said to be the main guilty for turning down repeated pleas to provide details of the DDC budget, projects and development.[break]

Victims say the LDO and other DDC officials didn´t provide information even after several follow-up visits, submitting a memorandum and serving an ultimatum.

At a public hearing organized here by Social Development Path on Thursday, its Director Satya Narayan Sah said the DDC chief´s honesty is under question for failing to make the budget of Dhanusha district transparent.

Journalists Himanshu Chaudhary and Shyam Sundar Sashi said there is a provision of punishment against those who deprive people of their right to seek information.

Chairman of National Musahar Society Upliftment Chandreshwor Sada charged that the DDC is executing projects only in papers.

Nobody knows where the money of parliamentary fund was spent, he said.
