Some 600 foreign and an equal number of Nepali mountaineers from 29 expedition teams will scale the world´s highest mountain this season, according to Da-Dendi Sherpa, liaison officer at the Mt. Everest Base Camp.[break]
Similarly, 12 expedition teams have acquired permission to climb Mt. Lhotse and two Mt. Nupse.
Sherpa said most of the teams that have acquired the permit have alreay reached the Base Camp. There are around 2,500 people including mountaineers, their guides, assistants and expedition team members at the Base Camp.
Preparing to take on the Mt. Everest, they are doing to and fro Camp II only as the route beyond that could not be opened due to bad weather, Sherpa said.
He said the route would be opened beyond Camp II after improvement in the weather.
