Deer population in Koshi Tappu increases

BELAURI (Kanchanpur), April 20: Number of deer has increased in the potential tourism site, Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve, this year.

According to the information provided by the Reserve Office, the number of deer has increased by 82 this year compared to the last one.



Organizing a press conference on Thursday, the Office informed that the number of deer has reached 1,825 as per the census conducted from April 15-17 through block census methodology. [break]



Last year the deer population was stood at 1,743. According to the census carried out in the Reserve this year, there are 365 male, 1,077 female and 383 kids.



Though the government declared 2012 as the tourism year, a very few number of tourists visited the Shuklaphanta area due to lack of publicity and transport facilities.
