KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Chairman of UCPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Saturday termed President Ram Baran Yadav´s move to set a deadline for the parties to come up with a consensus prime ministerial candidate as positive step.

Dahal who reached President’s official residence Shital Niwas this morning told President Yadav that the step taken by the president is positive if it is aimed at seeking consensus among the parties.[break]

A day earlier, President Yadav had called on the political parties to nominate a prime ministerial candidate through consensus as per the Article 38 (1) of interim constitution within the next seven days.

During the meeting Dahal also briefed president his party’s official decision over the move which the party criticized as unconstitutional.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the office bearers of party this morning held at Dahal’s residence in Lazimpat also took exception over the president’s move.

President Yadav on Friday finally called on the political parties to come up with consensus on prime ministerial candidate following political parties and government’s inability to forge consensus on various issues including formation of consensus government and holding new elections despite president´s repeated calls.
