KATHMANDU, March 15: Officials of Consumer Right Protection Forum met Speaker Subash Chandra Nembang on Tuesday and urged him to take an effective initiative to end price hike and impunity.

Their call comes on the occasion of World Consumer Right Day, which falls on March 15 every year. [break]

Consumer activists complained before Nembang that the government bodies are not doing the needful to control increasing market prices.

They submitted a memorandum to the Speaker demanding that the right of consumer be included in the new constitution and formation of a separate Parliamentary committee to look after market and rights of consumers, among others.

In response, Nembang urged the consumer activities to press the government to end impunity and timely drafting of the statute.
