Cold grips far-west

MAHENDRANAGAR, Jan 13: Severe cold has gripped the far-western region due to heavy snowfall in upper hills and incessant rains in the plains.



Two children had lost their lives to pneumonia in Kharkada VDC of Darchula district a few days ago. According to Harka Bahadur Pal, in-charge of Sub-health post in Kharkada, pneumonia patients have been increasing every other day.



Upper hillside of Darchula, Bajhang and Bajura have been witnessing continuous snowfall since Tuesday night. People from Chhangru and Tinker areas have been displaced following incessant snowfall.



Meanwhile, life in Kailali and Kanchanpur has also been affected due to cold wave. All the private schools in Kanchanpur have been shut down.
