Teacher Ram Kumar Rai said that classes were not run due to lack of chalks and dusters as the school headmaster has not joined the school even after the Dashain and Tihar festival vacation. [break]
"The headmaster has locked the school cupboard. We cannot unlock the cupboard as none has been given the responsibility of officiating headmaster. Chalks and dusters are not available in the nearby markets. So, classes have been halted."The school was opened on Monday after the Ghatasthapana day.
However, school headmaster Bam Bahadur Thapa refuted the charges that the classes were halted due to lack of such basic teaching materials. He added that he would take stock of the facts after joining the school soon as it is being late by some days for him to return to the office.
Nearly 200 students are studying in the school. The school is about a day´s trek from the district headquarters.
