Lawmakers led by Acting Chairman of the MPRF Jay Prakash Gupta, submitted a memorandum to Speaker Subas Nembang at the latter´s chamber in Singha Durbar on Tuesday demanding formation of an all-party committee.[break]
“It is our conclusion that the CIAA and other investigating bodies are biased and are working with an intention to defame our general secretary Ram Sahaya Yadav and other lawmakers,” said the memorandum.
Two lawmakers -- BP Yadav of MPRF and Gayatri Sah of Nepali Janta Dal -- are in CIAA custody for investigation into the same charges.
Meanwhile, the CIAA has corresponded to the parliament secretariat to produce Shiva Pujan Yadav along with his passport. The CIAA has requested the parliament secretariat to provide passports of six other lawmakers, who have also been suspected of misusing their red passports.
However, Speaker Nembang has said it wouldn´t be a wise to form a parliamentary committee to probe into the same which is under CIAA investigation.
“While proposing to form a separate parliamentary committee, we have to be careful that it does not affect the CIAA investigation,” Nembang told leaders from the MPRF and other Madhes-based parties.
The speaker urged the leaders to let the law take its course and assist the investigating agencies. But the Madhesi leaders said that they had no trust in the CIAA.
