BUSINESS BRIEFS: Nepse down on second straight day

KATHMANDU, June 29: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index continued its journey into the red territory on second straight day on Tuesday, shedding 0.88 percent or 4.04 points to close the day at 455.48 points. The benchmark index had dropped 3.93 points on Monday.



Sensitive Index that measures the trading of Category ´A´ companies in the secondary market lost 0.93 points to close at 110.99 points. Sub-indices of all trading groups except Insurance and Others groups dropped points on the day. [break]



Banking - the key trading group in the secondary market - was the top loser with 8.52 points. The Banking sub-index closed at 429 points on Tuesday. Similarly, the Development Bank, Hydropower and Finance groups saw their sub-indices plunge by 3.06 points, 3.96 points and 1.92 points to finish at 473.43 points, 705.08 points and 409 points respectively.



Total turnover on Tuesday, however, rose to Rs 26.96 million from Rs 16.88 million recorded on Monday. The number of shares traded also increased to 70,044 units from 40,394 units.



However, total market capitalization declined to Rs 356.99 billion from Rs 360.16 billion recorded on Monday.

Yamaha´s new showroom at Bhairahawa



KATHMANDU, June 29: Morang Auto Works (MAW), the sole authorized distributor for Yamaha two-wheelers in Nepal, has opened its new showroom -- Kismat Automobiles -- at Narayanpath in Bhairahawa.



National cricketer Shakti Gauchan inaugurated the showroom, MAW said in a statement on Tuesday. "The new showroom offers excellent valuation for any kind of old bikes, easy financing facilities also sales of all available models of Yamaha motorcycle," the statement added.
