BUSINESS BRIEFS: Ncell awards top five SLC graduates

KATHMANDU, July 20: Private operator Ncell has awarded top five SLC graduates of 2012 with laptops and other gifts.



Issuing a statement, Ncell said it handed over laptops and attractive gifts to Arun Kalikote of Bal Kalyan Mandir, Biratnagar; Aabesh Jung Karki of Koshi Bidya Mandir, Biratngar; Iraj Parajuli of Mount View English Boarding School, Bhaktpur; and Aarati Shrestha of Mahendra Bidhya Aasram, Bhaktapur. "The students were awarded on the basis of news on their success in various newspapers after the announcement of SLC results,” the statement added. Ncell had honored SLC toppers with laptops last year as well.



Neoteric launches IT store

KATHMANDU: Neoteric on Friday launched a new IT store ´NEO´ . Issuing a statement the company said the store will be the first multi-brand, large format retail chain in Nepal. The store is located at Metro Park in Lazimpat and features latest laptops, mobiles and accessories of the top international brands.



Neoteric is the one of the largest distributors of IT products in Nepal dealing with products from Dell, HP, Samsung, Nokia, Logitech and Belkin, among others.



Ocean Condom in market


KATHMANDU: MKS Trade has introduced Ocean Condom in the Nepali market. Issuing a press statement, the company said Ocean condoms are manufactured in India by Cupid. "Natural color and rubber, different flavors, latex dotted, electronically tested, silicon lubricated, individually sealed in square foil are the features of the Ocean condom," said the statement.


Civic posts Rs 1.1m net profit

KATHMANDU: Dhading-based Civic Development Bank earned a net profit of Rs 1.1 million last fiscal year, up from Rs 102,921 in 2010/11, according to a bank statement. The development bank reported interest earning of Rs 16.87 million and interest expense of Rs 9.02 million during the year. The bank also reported a rise in deposit collection from Rs 77.43 million till mid-July 2011 to Rs 142.35 till mid-July 2012. The bank, which has a paid-up capital of Rs 28 million, extended Rs 116.65 million in loans till mid-July this year. The bank is raising Rs 12 million very soon to boost its capital base to Rs 40 million, the statement says.



NMB Bank launches Visa debit card

KATHMANDU: NMB Bank has launched VISA debit card. This will connect the bank´s customers with all ATMs and Point of Sales terminals all over Nepal and India. “With the VISA debit card, customers can have wider access to their accounts from more than 400,000 ATMs and 2.5 million Point of Sales terminals in India and Nepal,” says a bank statement. “As part of the introductory offer, users of this card are being offered attractive discount at Pizza Hut, Nanglo and all Bhat-Bhateni Super Market outlets.” NMB Bank has 20 branches, 1 extension counter and 23 ATM outlets across the country.
