In a short span of two years, Global Bank has become successful in opening 10 branches in Kathmandu Valley and 13 branches outside the Valley. [break]
It has also been providing ATM services to its customers through 27 locations across the country. The bank is also planning to establish five more branches in the near future, according to a press statement issued by the bank.
Number of hotels up in Pokhara
KASKI, Jan 17: The number of hotels, travel and trekking agencies is on the rise in Pokhara.
In 2009, 22 new hotels opened in Pokhara while some others are preparing to open soon. With this, the number of hotels in Pokhara has reached 475. Similarly, 14 new travel agencies and 4 trekking agencies have been registered in 2009. Now, the city has 83 travel agencies and 67 trekking agencies.
According to the data provided by the Tourism Office, Pokhara, investment in the hotel sector increased by nearly 11 percent in 2009 in compared to the previous year. Hotels, travel and trekking agencies in the city have provided direct jobs to nearly 4,000 people. Similarly, investment in trekking and travel sectors increased by Rs 430 million in 2009 compared to 2008.
Though many hotels have been operating in Pokhara, there are no star hotel in the town, said office chief Giridhari Dhakal.
