There’s no reason why anyone shouldn’t opt for secondhand books, especially because of what’s usually said about old being gold. Secondhand bookshops in Kathmandu are treasure chests; one can even find a few novels in between old textbooks, although in limited numbers.[break]
Secondhand books come in great use, especially for students who can exchange their old textbooks with new ones and save some money out of the barter.
The International Secondhand Book Shop on Exhibition Road in Kathmandu is coming up with a two-month barter scheme starting on April 14. Students can leave their old textbooks, novels and all sorts of reading materials at the store and can get the books they want in exchange. All this will include no charge at all.
Brothers and owners of the bookshop Tek Prasad Baral and Shambhu Baral said, “We’ve foreseen the problem of students who won’t bring any books from their side but plan on taking. To put a check on this, we’ll make sure that a student brings at least one book in order to exchange.”
