Addressing a district-level cadres training of Newa state in the capital on Sunday, he also claimed that he was unable to bridge the gap between the government and his party.[break]
"I feel that the party did not defend the government´s decision strongly and there is a gap between the government and the party," a participant quoted Bhattarai as saying.
The comments come on the back of growing opposition demands for Bhattarai´s resignation as well as strong criticism against BIPPA, which the opposition says is against national interest.
There is also increasing animosity between UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Bhattarai with both trading accusations. While Bhattarai has accused Dahal of not helping his government, Dahal in turn has accused Bhattarai of taking decisions without first consulting the party.
Bhattarai also told the gathering that Nepal needed foreign investment for the country´s development. "We cannot sustain without foreign investment. Money collected from revenue is hardly sufficient for paying salaries of civil servants and other government staffers," another participant quoted Bhattarai as saying.
Addressing the same meeting, Dahal labeled Nepali Congress and CPN-UML as reactionary forces. He accused the two parties of wanting to take Nepal back to the 1950s when the king changed prime ministers on whim. Dahal reiterated that Bhattarai would not resign as demanded by the opposition.
"We should be looking to the future but the Nepali Congress and the UML want to take the country back in time to the 1950s," a participant quoted Dahal as saying.
Dahal also claimed that the recently-formed Federal Democratic Republican Alliance led by him, represented more than 80 percent of Nepal´s population.
