Banks making most of Pokhara trade fair

POKHARA, Nov 29: Banks and financial institutions in Pokhara are announcing competitive offers to attract people to their stalls at the National Industrial Fair that kicked off in the lake city from Thursday. [break]



“We opened our stall at the fair to help people open accounts in our bank,” says Salikram Chapagain, public relations officer of Himchuli Bikas Bank. Chapagain said they were participating in the fair for the promotion of the bank. “We have already opened 100 accounts till Saturday,” he added. The bank has introduced a special scheme under which people can open account at just Rs 100.



Machhapuchhre Bank, too, have launched attractive offers to attract customers. The bank has already attracted about five dozen customers in the last three days. It has offered higher education deposit scheme and youngsters saving scheme among others for the customers attending the fair. The bank is opening accounts at just Rs 16 for children below 14 years in its higher education deposit scheme. The bank is also providing free ATM cards for its account holders throughout the fair period. Manju Sapkota, customer service officer at Machhapuchhre, said the new schemes had been launched to attract youngsters.







State-owned Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB), too, is not lagging behind when it comes to providing competitive services. RBB has, so far, succeeded in opening 13 new accounts. RBB is offering zero deposit account, under which people can open accounts without any deposits.



More than 27 banks and financial institutions are participating in the fair.



Visitors can also get information about agriculture, auto and industrial productions through different stalls in the fair.



Manakaji Makaju, president of Pokhara Industrial and Trade Association, said the fair was a good platform for the banks and industries to reach to more people. “Visitors can also avail information on auto loan schemes that is being offered at the fair,” he added.



The fair will continue till coming Sunday.
