Balung school closed due to viral outbreak

BAGLUNG, Jan 6: Viral fever outbreak has affected classes at a school in Darbang of Myagdi district.



Siddhashanti Higher Secondary School has been closed for three days due to low turnout of students and teachers due to viral fever. Issuing a notice, the school has said that it had to stop classes after most of the student and teachers complained of fever, vomiting, headache and rashes.[break]



According to District Public Health Office (PHO) Myadgi, the students and teachers are suffering from chickenpox. “As per the symptoms, the teachers and students are suffering from chickenpox,” Dr Jhalak Sharma Gautam, chief of District Public Health Office, Magdi, told Republica.

Hom Nath Pandey, principal of the school, said, the school has been closed for three days after more than 100 students complained of viral fever. “We´ve already contacted the District Public Health Office. We will open the school after three days if the viral outbreak subsides,” sai dPandey.



Six teachers in the school have complained of viral fever, according to Udika Rokka, a teacher.



Locals of Kuhu VDC-9 and Baiyachaur VDC-9 have also been affected from the outbreak. “Not only the children, we are also suffering from fever and vomiting,” said Rupa Kishan of Darbang VDC-4.



A team of health workers from Darbang Primary Health Post has already reached the affected area.



“We will send a new team, including doctors, to the affected area to contain the outbreak,” added Gautam.
