Addressing the press meet, coordinator of the alliance CP Gajurel, who belongs to the Baidya faction, said they would continue with their protest programs in the streets and parliament for timely peace, pro-people constitution and national independence.
He stated that an overwhelming participation of people in the first phase of protest programs had shown that people are not happy with the government and the political parties.
Gajurel also accused the government using force to suppress their protest programs. Several leaders associated with the alliance were wounded in the torch rally taken out by the alliance on Wednesday in the capital. “It reminded us of the Panchayat regime and Gyanendra Shah´s direct rule,” added Gajurel.
He also criticized Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal agreeing to allow the Nepal Army to take charge of the Maoist cantonments.
