KATHMANDU, March 3: An application against the Supreme Court (SC) administration for its denial to register contempt case against Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi was filed at the apex court on Sunday.

Advocate Sunil Ranjan Singh filed the application, arguing that the SC administration does not have the right to interpret a writ petition. The applicant has demanded an order from the bench to scrap the administration’s decision not to register his case. [break]

The SC administration on Thursday had refused to register a contempt case against the CJ stating that the case tries to undermine the position of chief justice and the court’s honor. It had also stated that the apex court’s statement issued earlier does not mention that the chief justice accepted the executive post but rather said it would respect judiciary and legal decisions.

Singh on Wednesday had sought to register the case after the apex court issued a press statement indicating the chief justice’s positive view on the premiership offer made to him for the sake of ending the political crisis in the country.
