KATHMANDU, Dec 31: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) slapped a one-year ban on McDowell´s Ranipokhari Corner Team´s (RCT´s) foreign recruit Oladipo Olawala Afeez claiming that the Martyrs Memorial Red Bull League Disciplinary Committee found him involved in manhandling the referee during RCT´s match against Nepal Army Club on Saturday.

The match had turned tense following marching order to RCT coach Madhu Karki from the technical area in an hour mark and later in the stoppage time after Afeez was sent off. [break]

Coach Karki was allegedly given marching order by referee Sudish Pandey for using abusive language against assistant referee Nani Ram Thapa after conceding the first goal. However, Karki had refused to leave the technical area and was engaged in argument with the referee and assistant. Other officials of the RCT including Changesh Lal Shrestha and Uttam Lal Shestha had heated exchanges with the referee and they were also sent off from the technical area.

The match was obstructed for the second time during 11 minutes of stoppage time after referee Pandey flashed second yellow at Afeez for playing foul against Tek Bahadur Budathoki. Afeez had protested against the card claiming the first booking against him was unnecessary.

The African had pushed match referee Pandey after he was given marching order. Afeez had also stepped on the hand of Army player Budhathoki who was lying on the ground.

Then, Army´s players Yuddha Shahi and Nawayug Shrestha had thrashed Afeez on the ground. Referee Pandey had red carded Shahi then but Shrestha was left alone.

Others too face action

Meanwhile, ANFA slapped a three-match touchline ban on RCT coach Karki and two-match ban on officials Changesh Lal Shrestha and Uttam Lal Shrestha on Monday.

Likewise, Army players Shrestha and Shah also received three-match ban for the ´unsporting behaviors´.

The disciplinary committee has also decided to impose fines of Rs 15,000 on the Army Club and Rs 20,000 on RCT.

The committee has also stated that the actions were taken after going through the reports of match commissioner and referee as well as video footages.
