Among the players called to the training camp, nine are from Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club, seven from Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club, five from New Road Team (NRT), four each from Mega Three Star and Bauddha FC and three players each from G-Five Machhindra, Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) and Friends Club.[break]
Likewise, two players of Iceberg Madhyapur Youth Association and one each from Samsung Jawalakhel, Nepal Police Club and Mahindra Bansbari have also been asked to join the training camp.
Meanwhile, ANFA has also called in national team defender Rohit Chand, who has been playing for the Indian League for HAL Club, as well as Bharat Khawas, Jagajit Shrestha, Nirajan Malla and Deepak Bhusal, none of whom have signed up with any club for the upcoming season.
"We will observe the players for a week and then select 30 players who will train for another week," said Krishna Thapa, the coach of the U-22 team. "We´ll decide the final list 10 days before the tournament," he added.
Nepal will take on Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Yemen and Jordan in the group ´D´ qualifiers of the tournament.
ANFA appoints Hari Khadka as assistant coach
ANFA appointed former national team captain Hari Khadka as assistant coach of the Nepali U-22 team. According to ANFA CEO Indra Man Tuladhar, the association has appointed Khadka as ANFA wants to provide exposure to young coaches in the country. "Hari Khadka had passed the ´B License Coaching Course´ last year and ANFA decided to give him exposure as a coach," said Tuladhar.
"It´s a great opportunity for me to get responsibility of assisting senior coach like Krishna Thapa," said Khadka. "I´m thankful to ANFA for giving me this opportunity to learn under Thapa," he added.
Khadka debuted in the Nepali national team in 1994 and played his last match in the AFC Challenge Cup 2006. Khadka scored 13 goals playing for 12 years from the national team. Khadka, along with Nirajan Rayamajhi, is the all time top scorer for the Nepali national team.
"Playing and teaching others how to play are two different things. I have to learn many things to be able to coach," said Khadka.
Earlier, ANFA had appointed Krishna Thapa as chief coach of the U-22 team and Vice President Karma Chhiring Sherpa as team-leader. ANFA executive committee Member Madhusudan Upadhyay is team-manager while Nawal Gurung is the physio.
