Confirming the news, Sunny Manandhar, the lead guitarist of the band said, “The idea was insanely cool, and it was proposed by UTURN and Thompson Nepal.”
Mahima Shrestha, Consultant-PR at Thompson Nepal, who is promoting the campaign, “Pepsi Party@Namche” said that the reason for choosing the destination at Namche Bazaar was to highlight exotic destinations in the country and to further promote local tourism.
“Every year, as a part of the Pepsi campaign, we’ve been sending winners to various countries.
This year, since it is the Nepal Tourism Year 2011, we wanted to make people visit the less explored regions of our own country,” she added.
In total, twenty people from different parts of the country will be chosen through lucky draws and flown to attend the concert at Namche Bazaar.

“Due to the venue and the location, we don’t expect a massive turnover. However, our fans and the 20 lucky winners can expect an intimate show,” promised Sunny.
“We’ll be giving out our best like any other gigs that we perform.
The only thing different in Namche Bazaar will be the altitude, not the attitude,” he said.
He further said that the concert at Namche is one among the many gigs that are lined up.
“I guess we’ll still be touring and playing in Nepal and abroad.”
Reminiscing about their last trip to Down Under, Sunny said, “The gigs in Australia were better in terms of technical aspects like sound and light system.
Also, the crowd support was great as people who came to our show were very eager and excited to see us perform.”
Mahima Shrestha further added that Albatross, being a youth-centric band and popular among the age group, were approached for the concert.
