KATHMANDU, April 7: An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) has been installed at Tribhuvan International Airport, marking the first time such a life-saving device has been placed in a public location within the area.
According to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the device has been set up at the airport, which falls under Ward No. 9. Ward Chair Ramji Bhandari said the AED is a critical emergency device used to help save lives during sudden cardiac arrest or when a person’s heartbeat stops unexpectedly.

He noted that the availability of such equipment in public spaces represents a significant step toward improving emergency health preparedness and public safety.
The metropolitan city also expressed gratitude to the Health Advancement Program in South Asia Nepal and Tribhuvan International Airport for their coordination and support in implementing the initiative.
