Follow these steps and clean your messy room in 30 minutes tops. Before you get started, put on some music: Create a playlist of your favorite songs or listen to your best song on a loop. Whatever you choose to do, remember to choose upbeat and peppy tunes as that will help you move quickly. Alright then, let's get started.
First make the bed
Yes, we know there is a major debate about whether or not to make the bed. You are just going to get back into it in a few hours anyways. But if we used that argument for other areas of our home, we would never have clean floors, dishes, or laundry. Why wash something when it's just going to get used again? Making the bed changes the look of a room. It makes a room more inviting and instantly gives it a fresh feeling, besides inspiring you to deal with other messes immediately.
This is the one thing that you should do every single morning for the rest of the week as well. Try doing it as soon as you wake up, even before you brush your teeth. Although smoothing sheets and plumping pillows might not seem like a high priority as you're rushing to work, the payoff comes at the end of the day, when you slip back under the unruffled covers.
Get rid of what you can
Grab a large trash bag and dump everything you don't need or use. This includes old newspapers and magazines, or that pair of shoes that you meant to repair six months ago. Throw away obvious trash, things lying around that you meant to get rid of. Don't start sorting through boxes and closets. This you should get around to when the bedroom is finally in order. Once you've thrown away things you don't need, it is time to move on to the next step.
Put everything in its proper place
Throw dirty clothes laundry into hampers and rehang up any outfits that you may have tried on and left out. If it has been a long time since you have cleaned your room, you may also have large accumulations of stuff that belongs in your room but is not in its proper place. Take a brief survey of these things and if you can put it away in its right place within a minute or so, do it or else put it all in a container so that you can go through it and organize it later.
Dust all surfaces
Now that you can finally see table and dresser tops, it's time to get rid of the dust on them. Use a moist cloth to really swipe up dust and lock it away from resettling. Don't forget about the tops of mirrors, art and any accessories in the room. While you are at it wipe the windows and the mirrors with window cleaner. Take an old pillowcase and dust the fan blades and ceiling light fixtures too. Also tackle the floor and sweep or vacuum. Use a carpet cleaner to get rid of tough stains. An easy tip: Use a blow dryer to remove dust from places that are difficult to reach.
Give it 10 minutes a day for the rest of the week
After you've cleaned your bedroom this weekend, don't fall back into your old routine and let dust and clutter build up. After making the bed as soon as you wake up every morning, give it 10 more minutes before you head out for the day. Quickly wipe down the surfaces and put that dress back in the closet. A quick 10 minute clean up on a daily basis will ensure that your bedroom is never messy. A stitch in time saves nine, right? If you maintain tidiness, you won't have to spend precious weekend time doing a major clean up. And a tidy bedroom at the end of a long day at work is a welcoming and relaxing sight.
