KATHMANDU, Jan 11: The Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN) will be hosting its 8th Handicraft Trade Fair at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu from February 18 to 22.

“We anticipate 150 stalls at the upcoming fair,” informed Dev Raj Bajracharya, Assistant Secretary of FHAN. “We’ll have 10 pavilions that will display specific types of handicrafts, from handmade paper and natural fiber products to silverwares and pashminas.” [break]

Besides showcasing handicraft items produced locally, the five-day fair will also feature the 6th Craft Competition, live demonstrations by craftsmen, cultural and musical programs, and seminars on various topics.

Some of the objectives of the fair are to create a forum for local exporters and producers of handicraft goods, to encourage creativity, and to prepare participants for international trade fairs.

Established in 1972, FHAN has some 1,400 members from all over the country which are categorized under individuals, artisans and institutions.

Nepal exports more than 40 different handicraft products to more than 85 countries worldwide.
