Together the companies aim to create a new world record for the most people reading the same book on the same day. All around the world on October 7 there will be children and parents’ alike reading the same book, The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats’.
Through the process, the organizers aim to raise awareness about the important role that reading has in shaping a child’s life. They also want to showcase their efforts to make sure every child has a chance to succeed in classrooms every day.
Each time The Snowy Day was read on wegivebooks.org prior to October 7 a printed copy of the classic story was shared with a child who does not have books. The organizers believe this will further enable the child to take part in a local Read for the Record celebration.
The book talks about Peter, a boy who lives in an apartment in the city, and his adventures in the snow. The author leads us through Peter’s journey of discovery while he plays. If you wish to participate in the worldwide event all you have to do is be at Imperial World School, Lazimpat at 1:30 pm. To participate call 4416719 or 4428810 for free registration.
