KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Of the total 2,000 school buses that ply the streets of Kathmandu Valley on a normal school day, 50 percent have been grounded because of the fuel crisis.

DK Dhungana, general secretary of the PABSON, said that the schools have decided to stretch classes till Ghatasthapana amid the crisis."Many schools have asked the guardians to make their own arrangements to sending their children to school," said Dhungana. Many schools are taking terminal exams at present, which also requires them to remain open. Since schools had already lost 26 days after the Gorkha earthquake, they are compelled to conduct classes even during the crisis.
