A statement released by the UN office said the fund will support three major activities managed by the UNICEF, World Health Organization, UN Human Settlements Program, World Food Program and the FAO.
“Timely allocation of the fund will help address some of the most urgent humanitarian needs of the most vulnerable communities in Nepal. The projects supported will benefit more than 75,000 food insecure people and 125,000 children,” said Robert Piper, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nepal in the statement.
The statement informs that the project, in its first phase, will focus on nutrition for children under five, lactating mothers and pregnant women through integrated nutrition, water hygiene, sanitation and health interventions.
Similarly, the second phase of the program is going to deliver food assistance for severely food insecure populations in Bajura, Mugu and Kalikot districts.
The project will also provide immediate support by rehabilitating and reconstructing essential food security related infrastructure such as drinking water systems and agriculture.
