KATHMANDU, June 27: Police on Wednesday evening arrested 130 persons for smoking in public places in the capital. They were released after a three-hour detention.
They were asked not to repeat the action in writing, police said. “Though they have not been fined for their action, Rs 100 will be charged for the public offense from Thursday,” DSP Dhiraj Pratap Singh informed. [break]
Smokers were arrested from four various places of the capital—Singhadurbar, Newroad, Kamal Pokhari and Durbarmarg.
The police scrutiny to ban public scrutiny kicked off from today and will last for around a month, Singh informed.
The government has banned from smoking at public places.
