The team will visit 10 schools in Dhading, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Rupandehi and Kapilvastu districts where they will communicate with students. The team will conduct youth friendly and entertaining activities for awareness creation, states the press release. There will be music, puppet show and then a quiz to motivate the youth to learn and ask questions on related issues within HIV, LGBTQ and Sexual Reproductive Health. [break]
Information cabins will also be available as a means to provide more information to the youth, said Dipendra KC of YUWA. “We have prepared a song about HIV which we’ll sing there along with other songs. The puppet show will reiterate the same message and the quiz is to gauze whether the students have learnt something. We’re hoping that presenting the important but stigmatized issue of HIV in this light manner will be of help,” he stated. They will also be distributing information booklets.
This is the third year of the campaign and the past two years have yielded positive responses. “We visited Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha and other districts last year and many people called us after we left, seeking more information,” said KC.
Sending an SMS to 4001 will be answered with facts about HIV. The team will be travelling in a bus designed with HIV related slogan and banners.
