The United Nations has been marking July 11 as the World Population Day since 1989 to draw the world’s attention for controlling high population growth rate after the world’s population reached 5 billion.
This year, the world population is expected to surpass 7 billion and the UNFPA and partner agencies are launching a campaign called 7 Billion Actions.
It is expected that the world population will 10 billion by 2050.
Ministry of Health and Population is organizing a special function this noon in the capital in Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal’s presence.
