The weeklong tour will end with a public performance at Udhyog Banijya Sangh in Narayanghat at 3 PM. ‘Kavita is Cool’ will see spoken word poets Yukta Bajracharya, Ujjwala Maharjan, Samip Dhungel, Nasala Chitrakar and Milan Neupane perform different poems in Nepali and English along with a few poets from Chitwan.
The tour is part of the group’s ‘Write to Speak’ project and leads up to the three day Spoken Word 101 workshop to be held in Chitwan in March. Through ‘Write to Speak’, Word Warriors is trying to introduce young people from different communities in Kathmandu, Kavre, Pokhara and Chitwan to spoken word poetry. The objective is to create platforms for the youth, especially young women and those from marginalized communities ‘to speak out and be heard’.
Interested young people between 14 to 24 years of age can apply to be part of the workshop. Forms will be available during the tours.
