Ganesh was killed on February 15, 2004, two days after he led a program of people victimized by the then Maoists insurgents on February 13 in Kathmandu, where the protestors had burnt the effigy of the rebel leader Prachanda. He was shot dead at the then office of Maoist Victims' Association at Bagbazar, Kathmandu.
"Keeping my faith in the commission, I have filed my complaints. Now, it's the duty of the commission to provide justice and recommend legal action for the perpetrators," Sabitri told Republica after lodging the complaint.
"My husband was killed two days after he burnt the effigy of Prachanda. The Maoists were contentiously threatening him and us. They had taken the responsibility of the killing," she added.
Ganesh was forced to leave his home at Dhamili Kuwa in Lamjung district with his family after the Maoists attacked him with khukuri knives on July 29, 1999. Chiluwal was a VDC-level leader of Nepali Congress. After he was forced to flee the village, he opened the Maoist Victims' Association on the same year.
Sabitri reached the TRC office on Wednesday to lodge her complaint after the transitional justice mechanism started receiving complaints from the conflict-era victims from Sunday.
Dev Bahadur Thapa also registered his complaint at the commission. Thapa, who reached the TRC office on his disable-friendly scooter, was helped by a TRC staffer to fill the complaint form. Thapa said that he is an ASI in the Nepal Police.
"I was shot on my back by the then rebels when I was on duty in Nepalgunj on November 10, 2003. I became disabled after that incident," said Thapa from Gajul-3, Rolpa.
"I want to know the truth but I don't want whoever shot at me to be punished. I want to forget the nightmare and move on. However, I want that the government to look after victims like us," said Thapa.
Dhal Bahadur Basnet from Gumdel-9 Ramechhap had also reached the TRC office to lodge complaint against the Maoist cadres, who captured his farmland. Basnet, who was on wheelchair, claimed that he sustained the injury during the popular movement of 2006.
According to TRC Commissioner Madhavi Bhatta, the commission has received 213 complaints on Wednesday alone. The commission has been receiving complaints at its office in Kathmandu as well as through Peace Committees at district level.
