The number of complaints of violence against women filed at the District Police Office (DPO) has more than doubled in a period of one month from mid-August to mid-September compared to the previous month. [break]
In-charge of the Women´s Cell at the DPO, Usha Dhungana said eleven complaints on violence against women were registered in the one month period from mid-August to mid-September whereas only five incidents of violence against women were registered in the previous month.
She said a total of 16 complaints of violence against women and children were registered from mid-July to mid-August while 32 complaints against of violence against women and children were registered from mid-August to mid-September.
Dhungana said the number of women registering complaints against domestic violence has increased in the last few years because of the increasing public awareness against domestic violence.
