DADELDHURA, April 19: Locals have padlocked the office of Ajaymeru VDC in Dadeldhura district for the past 10 days after a dispute over a source of drinking water. Work at the VDC office has been totally halted. Locals from Saki and Pali villages padlocked the office demanding immediate resumption of Basana Drinking Water Project which was stopped after controversy among the people from Tallo and Mallo areas over the issue of source of water. People from both the sides claimed that the source belonged to them, according to VDC Secretary Bir Bahadur Aer. "Issuing birth or death certificates and citizenship cards among other day to day work has been totally stopped due to the protest," he said. One of the groups at the village has filed a case at the district administration office, Dadeldhura over the same matter.
