Vaidya elected president of Birgunj Chamber

BIRGUNJ, Jan 12: Ashok Kumar Vaidya, chairman of Shalimar Group, has been unanimously elected as the president of the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BICCI). Nine other members of the executive team were also unanimously elected to their posts on Saturday.



The executive team includes Pradeep Kediya as senior vice-president, Om Prakash Sharma as vice-president, Gopal Kediya as general secretary, and Sunil Khetan, Rabindra Varnawal, Anil Kumar Agrawal Patawari, Arbinda Amatya, Manoj Sharma and Dipak Kumar Tiwedilal as members. [break]



The new leadership of the BICCI has expressed commitment to focus on development of the industrial sector in Birgunj area. "The BICCI will work on settling the most pressing issues faced by the industrial sector such as labor unrest, power shortage and insecurity, among others," Vaidya said.



“We will also create pressure on the government to expedite development of Kathmandu-Terai fast track, international airport in Nijgadh and a new ring-road,” Vaidya said.
