US welcomes Maoist decision

KATHMANDU, Sept 1: The US has welcomed the Maoist party´s decision to hand over the keys of the arms containers to the Special Committee, saying the move is promising.



"...We hope it signals the commitment of the UCPN-M to continue moving forward to complete the peace process," the US embassy said in a statement on Thursday.



Similarly, the US has urged the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and other political parties to respond to the Maoist decision with similar "flexibility and constructive commitment" to conclude the peace process.
