US aid for Electon Commission

KATHMANDU, July 29:  The United States of America (USA) has pledged to grant US$ 5 million to the Election Commission for a new voter registration process, which will provide for voter´s photograph and fingerprints.



US Ambassador to Nepal Scoot H Delisi pledged the financial assistance on behalf of the US government at a meeting with the Acting Chief Election Commissioner Neelkantha Uprety, Thursday.



At the meeting, ambassador Delisi also inquired about the ongoing progress on new voter´s registration process. "Ambassador Delisi also expressed commitment to support the commission for upcoming election and voter´s registration process," reads a press release issued by the commission.
