But we are yet to find suitable place to shift the market," said Ramji Baral, chief executive officer of Bharatpur Municipality.
Gopal Ghimire, a vendor at vegetable market at Lions Chowk, said municipality officials were allowing vendors to sell stuffs on the street despite collecting hefty rent from them. "Those street vendors are affecting our business as people won´t come to vegetable market when they get stuffs on the street," he added.
Rajendra Poudel, a pedestrian, said chances of accidents near Lions Chowk have become high due to excessive crowd. "I don´t know why the police are not taking action," Poudel wondered.
Street vendors, however, said the authorities concerned should give them special privilege as they cannot afford to open stall at the vegetable market. "We are ready to move inside the vegetable market if we are given stalls at discounted rates," he added.
