Biratnagar-based journalist Dhakal was mercilessly attacked by UML cadres. Basnet repeatedly threatened to close down Nagarik daily and jail its Editor-in-Chief Narayan Wagle accusing him of publishing news items against Youth Association Nepal.[break]
A statement issued by the party secretariat said that the party has asked Rai to submit a report on the incident based on the statements given by the party cadres in this connection.
The committee took the decision to this effect after some CC members including Thakur Gaire raised the issue strongly at the meeting.
