"Serious doubts have been raised over whether they have been trying to disrupt the integration process by not respecting understandings already reached," the prime minister said on Monday in a statement issued by his personal secretary Bishwadeep Pandey. [break]
The prime minister issued the statement in response to news reports that quoted Pokharel saying that the prime minister during Sunday´s Special Committee meeting tried to backtrack on the understanding reached among the major parties on forwarding the peace process.
The prime minister further said that the tendency to see integration as new "recruitment" and not to accept the proposal of the Nepal Army prepared when CPN-UML was in government has been the main problem in finalizing the integration plan.
"The CPN-UML representatives in the committee have resorted to disseminating false information aimed at derailing the integration process and hiding the previous decision to give the government (Nepal Army) the responsibility of integrating the Maoist combatants," said the prime minister in the statement.
The prime minister has also urged the general public not believe such "misleading" statements from the CPN-UML leaders, reiterating that the peace process would be completed by April 12.
