KATHMANDU, May 5: CPN-UML leader Bhim Rawal on Saturday claimed that his party will join the national consensus government.

Participating at an interaction in Reporters Club Nepal in the capital, Rawal said UML will be part of the new government as it has already accepted the five-point deal agreed Thursday night. [break]

Rawal also said as discussion in the party´s central committee (CC) meeting is still ongoing, it will be too early to speculate that UML will not join the government.

A majority of UML CC members on Friday had aired their views that the party should not join the government, stating a ´foreign intervention´ in the five-point deal as one of the reasons why it should stay out of the government.

"Also I was  present at the time of the agreement, I didn´t see any foreigner, if someone has seen then let us know as well," he said downplaying any foreign influence in the deal.

Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sujata Koirala opined that late Girija Prasad Koirala´s dream of forming a national consensus government for peace and constitution will now come true.

"There is no alternative to peace and constitution," Koirala stressed and said she won´t be in the NC team representing in the government. "I m  not power hungry. I have bee working for the Sushma Koirala Foundation at the same time."

On the occasion, UCPN (Maoist) leader and politburo member Haribol Gajurel said the Maoist radical faction led by Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya is not against the five-point deal but against Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai.

He also claimed that Baidya faction will join the NC-led national consensus government, adding that the neighboring countries, India and China, are in favor of the consensus government.

"Foreign interference can be both negative and positive, Both India and China are positive towards the making of a national consensus government", Gajural said.
