'UML should run as per convention mandate'

CHITWAN, Aug 14: CPN-UML leader and Finance Minister Suredra Pandey said that the party should run as per the mandate of the party’s eighth general convention.



In a meeting with party cadres here on Saturday, he said that the UML shouldn´t be run by an individual, but according to the mandate of the last general convention. [break]



He said minor discussions and debates within the party shouldn´t be perceived as dispute in the party.



On the occasion, he urged party cadres to move ahead with new spirit and pressure the party leadership for consensus.



Saying that the UCPN (Maoist) cannot lead a new government in the present situation, he said the Maoist party shouldn´t be given a chance to lead a government unless the tasks of integration of its combatants, disbanding of paramilitary structure of YCL and the management of it weapons are achieved.



The UML will try all it can for national consensus, he said, adding that the other parties should also show maximum flexibility.
