KATHMANDU, March 14: Opposition party CPN UML strongly objected to the ´preliminary proposal´ on army integration floated by Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai on Tuesday´s special committee meeting.

"The proposal floated by the PM is against the spirit of the past agreements including the seven-point agreement," a statement issued by the party after the standing committee meeting on Wednesday reads.[break]

The integration process should be carried out in such way that would not undermine the Nepal Army act and respect the crux of the seven-point agreement, the party said.

The party expressed its deep concern on the government´s decision to revoke the sub-judice cases. "We strongly condemn the government decision to pardon the people indicted in serious offences," the party statement further added.
