UML holds clean-up program at Basantapur-Hanumandhoka area

KATHMANDU, June 14: The CPN-UML on Sunday carried out debris-removal works at the Basantapur-Hanumandhoka area which was damaged by the April 25 devastating earthquake.

Leaders and cadres of the party assembled at the Basantapur Durbar area this morning for this purpose. In this connection, they removed the debris and cleaned the different temples and historical monuments in the World Heritage Site.

Party chairman KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the debris clearing program, removing the wood and wooden planks from the debris and passing them over for their safekeeping.

Under the debris clearing and cleaning program, the party plans to remove the wood and wooden articles from the rubble of the quake-damaged monuments as temples and shrines in the area and clean around the places, according to the party secretary Gokarna Bista.

Along with Oli, Madhav Kumar Nepal and general secretary Ishwar Pokharel, among other leaders and party office-bearers, participated in the cleaning program.

The party has mobilized all its sister organizations in the cleaning up program.

Also this morning, the UML leaders and cadres cleaned the temples, shrines and other structures in the Pashupati area, another World Heritage Site.
