District chiefs from around 20 districts had arrived in Kathmandu earlier this week. They have urged top leaders of the party to settle the intra-party disputes on state restructuring. [break]They also separately met leaders from the dissident faction, including the party´s Vice-chairman Ashok Rai, and suggested to him to seek solution from within the party and not to make the differences public.
"The next round of gathering would be organized to step up pressure campaign," said a statement issued by the party´s Bhojpur district Chief Sherdhan Rai, who is coordinating the campaign.
Worried over the deepening intra-party disputes in the recent days, the UML district chiefs arrived in Kathmandu with a plan to intervene into the matter.
Some of the senior party leaders including Rai, politburo members Prithivi Subba Gurung and Ram Chandra Jha, among others, representing the Madhesi community have threatened to quit the party over differences on state restructuring model.
While leaders from the ethnic and indigenous communities demanded that the party should be ready to delineate and name provinces on the basis of ethnic identity, top UML leaders stood against the proposal.
The district chiefs have been pressing the leaders that the row be settled through the party´s central committee meeting starting Sunday.
